Daddy/son times :)

I was sewing in the kitchen when I heard this going on. I asked David to start over so I could video it.  Caleb was such an intent listener. WAY too cute!! Love my men!! :)

Week of Firsts

Caleb is now in his third week of life and has had lots of firsts.  Thursday Mrs. Reed came and brought him a New Testament from the church.

He also had his first check-up at the doctor at 2 weeks (on Thursday). He is in the 29th percentile for his weight and the 73rd for his length! :) He'll be long and thin like his daddy :)
Yesterday he weighed 8lbs 1oz!! Good news for daddy who has been dying to use the baby carrier :) The tag says the minimum weight requirement is 8 lbs. :) Caleb seems to enjoy it and is now asleep in it  while helping daddy get dinner on.

Looking up at daddy :)
Last night he slept in his own room for the first time!!! And today he started napping in his big bed :)
Mommy felt sorry for him not having anything to look at so I made him some entertainment for future nap times ;)
Such a big boy!
Curtain rod, bath toys, and rattles :)

He also had a bath today (not in the sink yet b/c he still has a little cord left), but we did get under the faucet and he LOVED it!! :) I think bath time will be a favorite for him.

Big bear hug!
Just LOVE that hair! :)

All these firsts left two very tired boys who needed a nap :)

Our Handsome Little Man

This week we had meals provided for us every night except Tuesday. We are so thankful that daddy had one less thing to think about each day. Except for Wednesday :) G'ma Jane provided our dinner and made David work for it, but I think he rather enjoyed that :) Leave it to GJ to bring T-bone steak for dinner! David got to use his grill for the steak, but she had prepared the rest of the meal. Thanks, G'ma! :)

Can you believe it? Caleb is 9 days old and has already passed his birth weight by one ounce! He weighed in today at 7lbs 8 oz.
Today we had several errands to run and he was so good and slept through them all! :) This evening G'ma & G'pa Bixby babysat so daddy and mommy could have a little date. Well, we only ended up shopping, but at least it was a little time out just the two of us. We're all tired out after a long, busy day.

Caleb Update

Day 5 of Caleb's life has held some big accomplishments :) Daddy got to change his first big blowout (the kind that goes through all the clothes :). Then he sprayed daddy really well during his next diaper change. Yup, we've got the loads of laundry going already. But, on the bright side he slept very well in his bassinet last night and has been eating on a very good schedule. He didn't even wake daddy up once in the night! Of course, mommy woke up to his eating cues before he had a chance to cry. He seems to be settling into a good routine with his eating, sleeping, wake times. I'm sure there will be times when he deviates, but it amazing how much of a routine has been established just in these first 5 days. He's doing so well and we're so proud of him!! :)

David has been just absolutely amazing at keeping up with the house, the wife, and the baby :) He's changed far more diapers and outfits than I have and is keeping everything running smoothly. I'm a very blessed wife and Caleb is a very blessed son!! We're SO thankful to the Lord for daddy!!!

Here is a video we thought you'd enjoy. He was quite alert during Bible time. We're pleased to say that for now, at least, he pays very good attention :)

Caleb Elliot

Here he is!!! So thankful for the Lord's protection and goodness through a long labor. More details when I'm feeling a bit more rested. I've currently been up for too many hours with no sleep :)

David's Birthday/ Baby Room

Here are a few pics of David putting together his birthday gift. I didn't get any of him using the grill since we were on Skype with Dad & Mum the whole time he was grilling. Its a nice little grill and I'm sure it will get lots of use this summer as David loves to grill out! We will especially enjoy being able to take it to parks since we like to try new ones and are never sure if there will be grills or not.

A couple pics of the baby's room. David still has a little touch up work to do with the paint and we need to get the curtains hung. We actually bought curtain rods, but got the wrong size somehow :( So we just need to get out and exchange them. I'm still hoping to come up with time/ideas for more wall decor. Have a few ideas, but haven't thought through them enough to try anything yet. Besides, I don't feel like I have time for it at the moment and baby won't care too much when he gets here, right?? :) Hopefully not too much longer before we'll have pics of a sweet baby boy in this nursery! Oh, and you can see David bought me a LOVELY comfortable glider!! It looks a bit messy in the picture b/c the fabric is chenille corduroy so the color kind of changes depending on which way the fabric gets rubbed. I've already enjoyed some time in it and David is actually studying in it at the moment :) I'm sure it will be a well-used chair!
