A few pics

Here are some random pics. David studying, Thanksgiving, Christmas stuff (Jackson & MacKenzie helping me make cookies ;-), and a project I did for the Baby's nursery (which we hope to have someday :). Sorry I deleted the better pictures of the tree and decorations. I'll have to do those again . . .

We're Alive! :)

I'm sure you probably have wondered, but we are indeed alive and kicking :) It's hard to post pics very often since I can't do it from home, but here are a few from the past few weeks.

I'm hardly working at all right now since Jodie is on maternity leave until after Christmas sometime. This week I didn't work at all. I've been feeling pretty well overall and have *started* to get some energy back. That's happy! :)

Our little man is doing well and kicking lots. LOVE being able to feel the miracle of life in me! We are thankful for the Lord's goodness to us.

The pics are from: the Minnick cousin outing to Skytop, our little party where we told everyone "It's a BOY!", and from artist series last night. Don't ask about Daniel . . . he's being Daniel :-)

Baby Minnick

Well, I had a hard time getting the pics scanned and up, so I'm just posting one. Today we had the blessing of finally seeing our lil' peanut in action! :) When we first started the ultrasound the lil' one was sleeping, but once the technician got him/her to wake up the action was on! Kept kicking and boxing the entire time! Because of that, the pictures are a little blury, but I think you can still make out the head, hands, feet, etc. We are so thankful to the Lord for this precious little blessing due just one day after David's birthday! And SO excited that Dad & Mum will get to visit just after the birth! (Thanks, Andrew & Meagan for timing your wedding so well ;-) In about 8 weeks we'll have another ultrasound and at that time, Lord willing, we'll find out whether its a little guy or a little girl. Until then, its still our lil' peanut :)

Here are a few pics that were still on my camera from CO as well as the pics from our outing to Krispy Kreme. No time to write now, but hope you enjoy the pics! :)

Random pics :)

The Saturday after NBS David & I had a more relaxing day and in the evening we had a cookout at Timmons Park.

Umm, let's see . . .here are some pics from our time with Sam in the hospital last night. He's been in for a week now. Last night we had dinner with Josh & Amber then went to the hospital to play games. We skyped with Ben & Beka while we were there-- they got to join in the picture :) The random food pics are our goodies from the Sav-Mor sale this past week! This was the best we'd ever done, by far!! We actually bought 2 boxes of stuff! :) For those of you who don't know, Sav-Mor (a grocery store in town) has a sidewalk sale every other Saturday. You pay $7 for whatever you can fit into a banana box! We always get our salad dressings there, and heaps of other stuff. This week we got: 3 boxes of cereal, 5 bags of choc. chips, marshmallows, 2 cake mixes, 2 brownie mixes,5 boxes of tea, oil, cooking spray, 3 bags of tortilla chips, 6 boxes of mac & cheese, mayo, 3 salad dressings, hot chocolate, jam, juice, tortilla shells and lots more that I can't remember! :) We estimated it was close to $150 worth of groceries and we paid $14!!!! Can't beat that! :)

And the last pictures are of the boat David has been working on since April. I did the painting last week, so now it's finally finished & ready to go! I think we'll be heading to Lake Robinson on Saturday :)

Andrew & Meagan came over for dinner Sunday night, but we didn't get pics :( They're coming again Wednesday for dinner since I won't be working. I'm not working this week and next b/c "my people" are on vacation. I'm going to try to work ahead on some freezer meals for the days that I work. In the winter I used the crockpot on work days, but lately David's just been putting something together when he gets home so that we can eat when I get back. With my time off I'd like to cook ahead so he doesn't have to do that so much. Of course, there's only so much room in the freezer, but . .. .
Oh, a BIG praise in regards to the fact that I'm not working--- we've been waiting for reimbursement from Medicaid for our ultrasounds last December. David has called periodically, but nothing. He called yesterday and the hospital said the check is on the way! The amount is just $15 less than what I make in 2 weeks of work. So the Lord has seen fit that we get the money even though I'm not working this week! :) That's a BIG relief!!

Guess that's all!! Love you all!

Mixed up posts

Sorry about the posts being mixed up in order. Not sure what happened, but when I get a chance I'll do my best to fix things and add a bit of news along with the pics :)

One more of graduation

Old pics-- Graduation week & 1st anniversary

These pics are pretty self-explanatory. :) Yup, graduation week pics include Sun. evening at U. Mark & A. Linda's, dinner at our house with the family, etc. Then a few pics of our anniversary getaway in Blue Ridge, GA
Not going to write much since we've seen everyone to tell about it :) AND because I'm at work and the munchkin is keeping me busy :) Pics will have to do.

Jackson & MacKenzie

Well, most of these pics are from my day babysitting :) But what else is there to take pics of these days?? :) We walk to the "park" (the playground at the community clubhouse) nearly every day the weather is nice. I have really come to love these kiddos and am so thankful for the opportunity to watch them and interact with their family. Kenzie is 16 months old and should be walking (she can) but refuses to :) The most steps she has ever taken is 30 and that was for me :) We know she can do it, but for some reason she's waiting. So I guess I should be thankful as crawling doesn't let her get into quite as much trouble as walking would :) She's a huggable, loveable bundle of fun! One of her favorite things to do is to blow kisses when you leave. SO precious! She also knows how to melt your heart by cuddling up to you when she knows you are going to leave her. It kills! :)

Jackson is 4 yrs. and is changing SO much from week to week! I LOVE listening to him ramble on as he becomes more and more confident in carrying on real conversations and is able to comprehend more. Its been a joy to seem him change and learn to respond to my authority as well. He acts so much more secure now that he is finally understanding our roles. He is much more expressive in his affection now and always makes sure to give a big hug when I leave him (especially at nap time- though I think that's to delay the inevitable :) and says "my love you too!" ;-)

The other pics are from the Australia Team reunion & dinner last Wednesday.

Been staying busy. I've been sick for about 9 days now. Thought it was allergies to begin with so I just let it go thinking it needed to run its course. Allergies shouldn't keep you from doing what you need to do, right? Now I've got a big mess of a cold and maybe a sinus infection. Slept until 1:30 today!! David came home a couple times throughout the day to check on me and help me out. Lord willing I'll be going to the doctor tomorrow to find out exactly what's going on and maybe get some antibiotics. Not fun. I really don't like going to the doctor, but after feeling like I have the past couple days I'm ready to do about ANYTHING to get well! :)

Well, I finally got around for the day at 2:30 when David came home and helped me. I'm feeling much better after a shower (think the steam helped clear me out a bit), but I need to get something done before David gets home from work in about 45 min :)
Thankfully I don't work until Monday- and that's just the house cleaning job for about 4 hours. Doesn't take as much energy as watching 2 energetic munchkinds for 9.5 hrs :)

My down time has allowed me extra reading time, etc. so I've been thankful for that. The Lord is richly blessing my time with Him and I praise Him for it! Oh! We finally got around to making our bathroom coordinate this week :) Maybe I'll put some pics up in a few days when I finish it.

Better run for now. Love to all, Naomi

Pictures!!!!! :) :) :)

I am FINALLY putting some pics up here!

David spent most of today studying in the library (we're here now :), but he took a break to go grocery shopping with me & then again for a quick cook out. We had bought some steaks on sale a while back and were waiting for spring to use them. I think we jumped the gun, but it was my idea:). It was a really windy day (as you can see by the fire:), so it wasn't prime cook-out weather, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.:)

No pictures & not much news, but its a post :)

Well, I have no pictures to post, but decided to write a little update anyway :) Somewhere I have artist series pictures so I'll have to see if I can get them up soon. We really, really enjoyed the opera!! They did an AMAZING job! And no, we never did pick Daniel out! :)

We've been busy with school, work, church, etc. . . just the norm. This week has been a little more busy because of Bible Conference, but that's always a good kind of busy :-)

I'll tell a bit about our week.

*Sunday morning we had an EMF (Early Morning Fellowship) with our SS class, then morning service of course. (BTW, the morning service was a tremendous blessing & if you're not able to listen to any other messages in this series I would highly recommend this one at least!) I wasn't feeling well on Sunday & Monday, but managed to make it to the evening services both days anyhow.

*Monday I pretty much laid low in hopes that I wouldn't get the flu in its full fury :)

*It seemed to work and Tuesday I felt great and got lots done around the house and managed to make it over to campus for a picnic lunch with David (& Cara-- she was here from 8-3). I also baked dozens of mini cinnamon rolls for Tabitha's (Sam's fiancee) bridal shower on Saturday. I had to bake them early since I'm not at home the rest of the week:) I froze them and we'll see how they do on Sat. morning.

*Wednesay I worked all day and the excitement for the day was MacKenzie taking 30 steps on her own!!! Once she did that she was done for the day, but its huge progress in the right direction!! She just got some shoes that squeak when you walk on the heel to help her learn to walk flat-footed. You know how little kids always walk on their tip-toes to begin with?? It was super cute to watch her get excited when she figured out how to make that noise:) Wednesday night we had nursery at church and b/c of Bible Conference we only had 6 kids!! That was a blessing since our usual helpers had to be at BC so it was just the two of us.

*This morning I had to clean the house that I usually on Mondays (since I was sick Monday). The fun part is that it takes me 4-5 hours to clean and I only had 3.5 hours to do it before I picked David up for the annual picnic/soccer outing with the Minnick clan. I worked fast and hard and got done by 12. We ended up getting to the park just after everyone else, so that was happy. We had a good crew there. U. Mark, A. Linda, Esther, Lydia & Nick, Shepherd (he's SO cute & cuddly! :), A. Ellen, Charles, William, Elizabeth, A. Emily, Tate & Joanna, Caroline & Jeremy, Anne & Tim, Maria, Hannah, Andrew, Daniel,David & myself. I think that's everyone. We had a lovely lunch as usual and then played soccer & volley ball. Well, I didn't play much soccer-- I sat & talked to Esther most of the time :) I did play when they did couples vs. couples for a bit.

I'm taking a little break from working on my lesson for teen club tomorrow night. David is at the service, but I stayed back to work on this since I've had little time this week. We're supposed to teach the last 5 chapters of Genesis . . ..right. 5 chapters in one 25 min lesson:??? ;-) We'll see how that goes.

Tomorrow will be a pretty normal - I'll work 8-5:30, teen club from 6-9, then we'll hit the hay and start all over again :)
Saturday I have Caroline & Anne's showers at 9:30, Tabitha'10-11:30/12, the annual Australia reunion picnic from 12-2, and who knows what after that!! :) I'm hoping sleep . . . . ;-) Somewhere in the day we need to clean for the Hall's (David may do that while I'm at the showers)

So, that's about it for our normal lives :) Hope everyone is doing well!
We love you all lots!

Lake Conastee

Well, this is a little late but better late than never . . .

Last Saturday (Feb. 19th) David took the day off from studying (he worked ahead during the week :) so that we could spend the afternoon at Lake Conastee Nature Park. The weather was GORGEOUS and it was so very enjoyable to be able to spend a few hours of uninterrupted time together. We took a picnic lunch then walked about 3 miles on the trail there at the lake. The water was low and we didn't get around to the largest part of the lake so it wasn't very picture worthy, but we had a LOVELY time!!!!! Here are just a few pics we took along the way. I like the pics of our shadow :) Simply romantic, aren't they?? ;-)

This week is a busy one for David as far as studies are concerned. Just 3 weeks until Bible Conference, if you can believe it! And we all know how the time flies by after that.

The weather has been just lovely for so many days now. I've been taking the kids to the park nearly every time I'm with them. Today we didn't go because there was a tornado warning (maybe its still in effect??). We didn't get any rain until I was on my way home from work -- about 5:30 PM. It was a bit scary driving home on the interstate when the rain hit hard. The sky was almost midnight black for about 10 min. and the traffic was nearly stopped. So glad I don't have to drive in that every day! :) Now we're just praying that we don't get lots of water in the apartment. I'd hate for David to have to be up all night vacuuming that mess up!

Can't think of anything else going on. We did go to U. Mark & A. Linda's for dinner last night after church. It was sort of in honor of Lydia's birthday, and also b/c we were supposed to go over a couple weeks ago, but Esther was sick.

Well, I'll close for now. Hope everyone is doing well. We love you all!!

A random assortment :)

Well, I haven't worried about posting since Dad & Mum haven't had computer access. They do have a generator now, but am not sure how much that'll do for them as far as the computer is concerned. Hopefully they will have power by the end of the month!

We're just plugging along here. Last week we had Andrew & Daniel over for dinner (Meagan had a meeting) and had a small birthday celebration for Andrew. I really, really enjoyed having 2 Wednesdays off work! LOVE being able to have the siblings over before church!

This week is a busy one. I worked and did errands all day Monday. Tuesday I babysat 4 girls from church in the afternoon (aprox. ages 2,4,6,8?). That was quite an adventure! :) We made macaroni necklaces (which they promptly ate ;-), played outside, colored, etc. One of the girls had a run-on encounter with the teeter-totter and got a huge bruise on her face. :( They are very energetic girls and we had a lot of fun. Cara came in the afternoon and helped with the girls then we got all dressed up for Artist Series (Philharmonic of Poland) at BJU. We both got beautiful flowers from David!! :) Cara spent the night and went to work with me on Wednesday, which was a HUGE help! I've decided she can't go home :). Its kinda nice to get paid for someone else to do all the work ;-) No, she really is a help though because she is so good with kids and has more energy than I do (do I sound old, or what?!:).

Atchurch last night David gave a 15 min. powerpoint presentation about the cyclone devastation in Australia. Since we hadn't heard from Dad & Mum since the update he gave last Wednesday we did our best to round up as much info as possible from other missionaries & Australian church people who are my friends on facebook. Amazing how quickly you can get info around! :)
Also had an answer to prayer last night. Christy got a job and consequently hasn't come to club in 3 weeks. She keeps saying she wants to come to church but isn't home when we go to pick her up. Last night she said she was going to come then texted back to say that she was going to drive over with a friend. I saved her a seat but she didn't show up. During prayer time I heard "where's Naomi!?!" When I finished praying I saw Christy and her friend talking to some of the teen girls. They had gotten there late and sat in the fireplace room. She is in a "down" moment, but I'm thankful that she was there! The Lord is still working! I'm so glad she's in His hands and not mine, because I can't keep a hold on her :) Pray that she will continue to deepend her relationship with the Lord and develop the discernment necessary to live for Christ.

Today I had ladies Bible study, lunch with a good friend, and cleaned at mom and dad's before picking David up from work. Since its been such a crazy week he decided to take me out for dinner before we came to the library to study. Such a thoughtful husband!! :)

We're working on another puzzle so I'll have to post pics of that when we finish.
Well, I guess that's about it for now. David's busily working on Hebrew as I send this. I'm going to try to get some reading done.

Not much news

Well, I don't have a lot to say, but thought it was about time to post again ;-)

We've been busy with school, work, and church activities. I can't even remember what we did this week! :) This week and next my work schedule was changed so that I had Wednesdays off. That was really nice for yesterday since we had nursery duty at church. It can be tiring to be with kids for 9 hours all day then have a dozen or more two year olds for another couple hours!! We do really enjoy the ministry though and love being with all those precious little children! What a difference between the children of the unsaved family I work for and the kids that come to church!

Since I did have yesterday off we had Andrew & Meagan over for dinner. Daniel had a recital so he wasn't able to come. Hopefully we can have all three of them next week.

I'm including pictures of the puzzle David & I have been working on in the evenings the past couple weeks. We finished it on Tuesday night and David proudly displayed it for a picture :)

David is studying here in the library at school. I like to come along and read or blog (as I'm doing now :). Just took these couple pictures to put up along with this note.

Hope you are all doing well. I need to close before my computer dies (I forgot the power supply:( ) No time for editing photos-- you get them as I took them :-)
